Merrebee Estate 1999 Riesling
Vintage Conditions |
The growing season that produced the grapes to make this wine was long and cool.
The cool summer ripened the grapes very slowly, which was favourable for maximum flavour development.
Flavour intensity is at its peak at sugar levels that are correspondingly high. Some of the fruit was
botrytis effected and has given an added dimension to the wine. |
Winemakers Comments |
The colour is mid straw lemon yellow. The aromas are underlying lemon blossom and citrus
characters, dominated by floral notes. The palate is fresh and crisp with grapefruit citrus characters
and a clean finish. Persistence is high with good fruit intensity. |
